Lalitpur Lamp Fire Spreads Across Home Killing 4, Injuring 2

At least 4 people have been killed after fire engulfed an entire house in Nabahal of Tangal in Lalitpur district.

The incident took place on Friday evening at around 7 pm, while the curtain on the third floor caught fire from a nearby lamp lighted during Maha puja celebration.

The deceased have been identified as Laxmi Krishna Tamrakar, Anjana Tamrakar, Ratna Tamrakar and their under age son Nirjal Tamrakar.

Total 7 people were rescued out of which 2 have been hospitalised, with one serious, according to Lalitpur SSP Kiran Bajracharya.

“The two injured had actually jumped from the top of the building during the fire. The fire was controlled soon after the police arrived ,” Bajracharya informed.

The injured are being treated at nearby Patan hospital.

The sad incident took place as celebrations are at their peak during Tihar festivities.

Fire incidents are common during this festival season.
