

December 17, 2019: The government of Karnali Province has launched its ‘Bank Account for Daughters, Life-long Security’ programme from today.
Karnali Province Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi introduced the programme by handing cheques bearing of Rs 1000 to Darshana Damai’s four-month-old daughter Janaki and Ratana Sunar’s two-month-old daughter Jamuna for their new account, in Kalikot’s district headquarters Manma today.
Damai is a resident of Khadachakra Municipality 2 and Sunar of Khadachakra 1.
Addressing the programme launch ceremony today, the chief minister described the programme as a special one geared towards ensuring social justice for daughters.

The parents of the babies expressed their happiness and gratitude towards the Karnali Government.
The program will be gradually implemented in other districts of the province too.
The programme will be applicable for girls born from the start of the current fiscal year.
