The Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) the umbrella organisation of hoteliers has decided to shut down their business operations until mid-November.
The executive committee meeting of HAN, held today, decided to shut hotels across the country and wait for the normal flow of tourists after the pandemic Covid-19 is contained.
Shreejana Rana, president of HAN, informed media that the decision would be effective from April 13 by allowing 12.5 per cent of the staff’s basic monthly salary.
Rana mentioned that HAN was compelled to do so as there was no business due to the lockdown to control the Coronavirus.
HAN is officially submitting its decisions to the government on Monday.
HAN has also warned to expel the employees if they didn’t abide by the decision.
“The government should take the responsibility now, as we can’t do more then this,” she concluded.
Also HAN has demanded concrete steps from the government to protect the hotel industry during this hour.
However, small scale hotels and restaurants may not follow the decision, as most are not enrolled with HAN.
This also comes with most of the global chains of hotels shut down due to the pandemic.
Small businesses may resume with the ease in the lockdown.
