Kathmandu/Sept 27, 2018: Vitof-Nepal has announced 3 new destination villages on the occasion of world tourism day this year.
Amid a program organized in the capital, the Murma village near Rara lake in Mugu district, Rainaskot villages of Lamjung and Doramba village of Ramechhap district have been declared Tourism Visit Year Destination Villages.
Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Ravindra Adhikari said the prosperity of villages in Nepal can be brought through tourism.
Minister Adhikari felicitated DebiKrishna Rokaya the president of Rara Tourism Development Committee and a resident of Murma, Khadak Bahadur Shrestha the ward chairman of Doramba village and Bishnu Maya Gurung of Rainaskot village for the same.
On the occasion the President of the Vitof-Nepal Dhruva Simkhada suggested the Government to make the arrangement for leave holiday for government employees by saying there was a need to bring necessary policies targeting the rural villages for tourism.
Also emphasizing that the government should pay heed towards the development of physical infrastructure in the villages, Simkhada said that tourism was the only alternative which requires the least investment to raise the financial status of the villagers in Nepal.
In 2003, 12 unarmed Maoist cadres and 2 villagers were killed brutally in Doramba village while both the sides had declared a seize fire.
