KP Oli Re-elected President of CPN-UML, Bhim Rawal Dared to Contest

KP Sharma Oli has been elected the president of CPN-UML from the election held in Chitwan.

Oli was re-elected from the tenth general convention on Tuesday from the polling which took place in the wee hours the same day.

As the split focused on Oli as a sole leadership in UML, vice-chair Bhim Rawal who nearly sided with Madhav Kumar Nepal to join the CPN(Socialist Unified) had formed a separate panel.

Out of the 2,096 total votes casted, Oli has grabbed 1,840 votes against Rawal’s 223 votes.

Among the vice-presidents Asta Laxmi Shakya secured 1976, Surendra Pandey-1935, Subhash Nembang- 1865, Vishnu Paudel- 1858, Youraj Gyawali- 1843 and Ram Bahadur Thapa- 1768.

Meanwhile, Ghansyam Bhusal received only 735 votes getting out of the ring.

For the secretary post; Gokarna Bista received 1976 votes, while Yogesh Bhattarai got 1964, Padma Aryal- 1800, Chhabilal BK- 1800, Lekhraj Bhatta- 1704, Top Bahadur Raimajhi- 1700, Raghubir Mahaseth- 1513.

Likewise, the opposing panel candidates for the secretary’s post, Bhim Acharya secured only 300 and Tanka Karki got 500 failing the poll.

Out of 2,153 delegates, only 2,096 had cast their votes.

Earlier, the senior vice-chair, general secretary and three deputy general secretaries were elected unopposed.

Electronic machine was used for voting.
