The cabinet has decided to extend the lockdown until June 2, as two people die of covid-19 in the country.
A meeting of the High-Level Coordination Committee for the Prevention and Control of COVID-19 held earlier on Sunday itself had recommended the Government to go for the extension.
The earlier fixed extension was supposed to expire on Monday, May 18.
The duration has been extended as the coronavirus cases are about to hit 300.
The first fatality was on May 16 at Dhulikhel hospital of that of a post-natal mother aged 29 and the second was on May 17 of that of a migrant worker who had returned from India and had been at the quarantine located in Narainapur of Banke district.
