The Madhav Kumar Nepal faction of CPN(UML) has decided not to attend the Central Committee meeting called on Friday.
A meeting of the Standing Committee members of the Nepal faction held in Baneshwor on Thursday, decided not to participate in the meeting deeming the move of the party chair and Prime Minister KP Oli not matured enough and not following the party statutes.
Senior UML leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has been insisting on postponing the meeting scheduled on Friday, saying enough sincerity has not been shown from the Oli side.
“We will emphasize on party unity until the last minute, the new party is the final alternate,” Nepal revealed to Press.
Talking to media, senior leader Bhim Rawal revealed that Their meeting had made two decisions that they would give a green flag only if the other side comes ahead as per the statutes of the party’s 9th national general convention and with the aim of correct and meaningful talks.
“It’s clear the Supreme Court’s decision should be followed. We need to respect the party’s statutes or else the party unity will be hampered,” Rawal added.
Leaders close to Oli faction had announced the dissolution of the 10th national general convention on Wednesday, in Baluwatar, adding some members in the standing committee from the former Maoist and Nepal faction.
However, the Oli faction has been claiming that the Central Committee has been taken back to May 16, 2018 condition.
Another senior leader and former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal had attended the Nepal faction Standing committee meeting via virtual facility due to his frail health condition, as he has recently arrived from his treatment in India.
