No-confidence motion has been filed against Lumbini Chief Minister Shankar Pokhrel.
The Nepali Congress, Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) and the Janata Samajbadi Party have registered a no-confidence motion against Lumbini Chief Minister Shankar Pokhrel.
Pokhrel is one of the key ally of CPN-UML chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
The parties have proposed Maoist Centre leader Kul Prasad KC as the new chief minister.
A total of 41 MPs of 3 different political parties have signed against for the same.
The Lumbini Province Assembly consists of the 85 members as Maoist Centre has expelled two members.
This makes 41 seats of Nepali Congress, 20 of Maoist Centre, 6 of Janata Samajbadi and one of Rastriya Janamorcha.
As many as 19 members from the Congress, 17 from the Maoist Centre and five from Janata Samajbadi Party have signed the motion.
Though the Janata Samajbadi Party has sided with the Congress and the Maoist Centre in filing the no-confidence motion, one of its members, Kalpana Pandey, has not signed the motion claiming she she didn’t get the consent from party chair Mahantha Thakur.
Maoist MP Kul Bahadur KC is said to replace Chief Minister Pokhrel.
