Police Baton Charges Agitating Students in Rukum West, Injuring a Dozen

Police has baton charged agitating students in Rukum West injuring atleast one dozen.

The students affiliated to three students organisation All Nepal Independant Students Union(Revolutionary), All Nepal National Free Students’ Union and Student’s union close to Biplov had organised the protest program on Wednesday evening, at Sahidmaidan in district headquarter Khalanga when police interrupted.

A group of around 22 police personnel led by inspector Kapil Shahi had carried out the lathi charge on the students mercilessly.

Student district leaders ANISU(R) district president Sushil Bista, Narayan KC and Sompal Kami have been seriously injured, while others have minor injuries.

“The police administration had acted in a planned way and attacked us in a large number,” said Sundar Sharma, the central member and district incharge of ANISU(R).

“The incident happened in an unexpected way which we denounce and demand a fair investigation over it,” Sharma added.

The students organisations affiliated to the 5 opposition alliance parties have been staging nationwide protest programs, against the government.
