Province Chief Som Nath Adhikari appointed leader Rai as per Article 168(2) of the constitution of Nepal.
The earlier Chief Minister Bhim Acharya had resigned on Monday, following the registration of claim by Rai this afternoon itself as per the provision of the constitution.
