Revolutionary singer Juth Bahadur Khadgi, popularly known as JB Tuhure has passed away, aged 78.
Tuhure who inspired mass through his revolutionary songs and simple living, passed away on Thursday afternoon, in course of treatment at Vayodha Hospital in Kathmandu.
He was rushed to the hospital after a stroke hit him at his residence in Kalanki.
He was the a Constitutional Assembly member, representing CPN (Maoist Centre) and party’s central advisor too.
Famous for his progressive songs like ‘Aama didi baini’ which encourages women folks to fight for their gender rights and equality brought him lot of fame along with others like ‘Basai Hidney Ko Tatiley’ and ‘Aadhi Kholailey’ etc.
A native of Dharan, he began singing as a child and continued his passion for awakening the general mass and proletariat class.
He had chronic diseases like blood pressure, diabetes along with heart and lung diseases; which hampered his treatment.
His body has been kept at party’s headquarter Parisdada in Koteshwor for final condolences.
Later in the afternoon, his body will be cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat.
He is survived by wife, 4 daughters and son.
JB Tuhure Foundation has been established in 2075 BS and his daughter is the chairperson.
His loss has saddened Nepalese and in international community.
