Minister for Education, Science and Technology Krishna Gopal Shrestha who has been taking care of 5 ministries, has apologised for Rupa Sunar case, upon reaching the Human Rights Commission.
Minister Shrestha had reached the Human Rights Commission on Wednesday and apologized and committed not to repeat the act of supporting Saraswati Pradhan and giving her lift in his official vehicle after her release from the custody.
Pradhan had denied Rupa Sunar to be a tenant in her house, after learning that she belonged to dalit caste.
Human rights activists and those working for the upliftment of dalit community had strongly raised their voices against the incident and it sparked nationwide protests.
Chavilal Biswakarma, the standing committee member of the Minister’s CPN(UML) party himself and another former Sports Minister Jagat Bahadur Biswakarma had criticized Shrestha, for his anti-communist behaviour against the incident.
The agitators have been also demanding his resignation.
