TAAN Establishes Food Bank for Tourism Workers

Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal(TAAN) has established a food bank for the tourism workers in Nepal.

As things get worse for tourism workers amid covid-19 pandemic, TAAN has urged its members to show their generosity for the same.

“On the occasion of our anniversary on May 29, we have come up with the concept because the second wave of the pandemic is worse then before. Tourism workers are jobless and their saving is also over,” informed Sarita Lama, TAAN General Secretary.

“We have formed 7 sub-committees for the same and first vice-president Cholendra Bahadur Karki is the coordinator of the TAAN food bank, with Secretary Damodar Dhakal as the Joint-coordinator,” Lama added.

So far around 2.5 lakh rupees has been collected for the same.

Former TAAN president and tourism entrepreneur Jyoti Adhikari has donated 50 thousand rupees, while Ram Prasad Sapkota has donated 25 thousand and Nimesh Thapa 20 thousand rupees for the same.

Also, other tourism entrepreneur Bodhraj Bhandari, Rishi Bhandari, Kumar Thapa, Gokul Sapkota along others have donated 15000 rupees so far.

And Amber Bomjan has donated 5000 rupees.

Likewise, General Manager of Norvic hospital Ravi Shankar, tourism entrepreneurs Mukti Pandey, Rajendra Lama and Mohan Lamsal have donated 10 sack rice and dal.
