The history creating team led by Nirmal Purja Magar has arrived Kathmandu after their record winter victory over world’s second highest mountain peak K2.
The proud team arrived in Kathmandu from Islamabad of Pakistan this morning and was given a warm welcome.
The team of 10 members for the first time attracted world attention by capturing K2 in Pakistan deemed as most dangerous, on January 16, at 17:00 local time(12:00 GMT).
After the victory, Nirmal Purja Magar(Nimsdai) the team leader had said: “The impossible is made possible !”
“Brother to brother, shoulder to shoulder, we walked together to the summit whilst singing the Nepali national anthem. Stopped over 10 mtrs before reaching the summit,” wrote Mjngma David Sherpa, another team member on facebook.
The proud conquerers of winter K2 are Nirmal Purja Magar, Mingma David Sherpa, Mingma G, Mingma Tenji Sherpa, Geljen Sherpa, Pem Sherpa, Killu Pemba Sherpa, Dawa Tempa Sherpa and Sona Sherpa.
While in Pakistan the team got a very warm stay with the special meetings with the Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief of army staff General Omar Javed and others.
Indian Congress leader Rahul Gandhi congratulated the team on the social sites.
The team believes the expedition and record is also to create awareness against the global warming and climate change.
