At a camp held for tourist guides, only a handful have received the Coronavirus vaccination, sparking anger.

Out of around 5 hundred tourist guides who had been to Bir hospital in Kathmandu for Coronavirus vaccination only 80 have received it.

Most of the tourist guides returned empty handed cursing the poor management of the Government.

“We had already informed that around 4 hundred tourist guides would come for the vaccination, but very few received. We have urged again to the district health office for more but are unhappy about the situation,” informed Badri Nepal, president of Tour Guide Association of Nepal (Turgan).

“Had all the tourist guides got the vaccination, a very good message would have conveyed that Nepal is very safe amid covid-19 pandamic. Guides are the frontliners and they are the one who handle the tourists. If the government ignores them, it’s not a good sign for tourism industry which has suffered a huge lose,” Nepal added.

Around one thousand tourist guides are the members of TURGAN but all are not available in Kathmandu though due to different reasons.

“This scenario shows our importance for government and it’s a big mistake for a country like ours full of tourism potentialities. This carelessness of the government will hamper Nepal’s tourism market,” Nishan Pradhan, Nepal Chinese Guide Association (NECGA)

Around 5 hundred tourist guides had reached the site clutching their id in Bir hospital at 10 am morning on Saturday, but few received the Corona vaccination.

License from Valley Tourism Office in Hattiban was asked for verification for the same.
