The Election Commission has granted Janata Samajbaadi Party to Upendra-Baburam Faction, asking Mahanth Thakur group to register a new one.
The announcement came on Monday, after the commission carried out the required process of counting the majority number of central committee members in whose favour.
The majority 34 members supported the Yadav-Bhattarai faction.
The clear number of central members of the party divided over the ownership was marked and sent to the five-member bench formed by the commission to solve the dispute.
The Thakur led faction had registered a petition at the Commission demanding to halt the headcount.
Making situation difficult for Mahanth Thakur side, nine members close to them sided with the Yadav-Bhattarai faction, ensuring them a majority.
Manish Suman, Mrigendra Kumar Singh Yadav, Rajkishor Yadav, Nawal Kishor Sah, Mahendra Raya Yadav, Ram Naresh Yadav, Gajadhar Yadav, Amrita Agrahari and Ramesh Yadav, who were with Thakur, on Monday joined the Yadav and Bhattarai faction.
Also, Resham Chaudhary who is serving a jail term in the Dilli Bazaar prison, was also produced before the Commission, to learn about his opinion on the matter. However, he decided to stay neutral.
