January 1, 2020/ Kathmandu:The Visit Nepal Year 2020 has been launched amid a grand ceremony in the capital Kathmandu.
The ceremony took place in Dasrath stadium on Wednesday evening.
President Bidhya Devi Bhandari officially innaugurated the VNY2020 by torching the light at the big metal vessel placed at the stadium.
Similarly, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai lauched an app marking the opening of the tourism year.
Also present at the function were the Chief Justice, the National Assembly Chairman, former Prime Ministers, political party leaders, dignitaries from various countries including tourism ministers, heads of constitutional bodies, heads of the diplomatic mission, members of parliament and ministers.
Addressing the mass gathered on the occasion, Tourism Minister Yogesh Bhattarai revealed that the 2020 only marked the beginning and the celebration would last for the decade.
Minister Bhattarai made it clear that the Government was all set to observe the coming decade as the tourism decade and urged for the participation of each and every individual for the same.
Before entering into the official round of the ceremony, march past of different cultural groups, communities, different association related to tourism sector, tourism entrepreneurs, social organizations, religious groups, Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, students affiliated to different educational academies along others were gracefully displayed along the procession.
Also, VNY 2020 has been officially inauguarated in all the seven provinces of the country today.
The celebration full of pomp and joy were also observed in major cities and tourism destinations across the country.
Recorded greetings for the success of the event from big guns of the political arena, chief ministers of all the seven provinces along others were also displayed on the occasion.
The Tourism ministers from the neiboring countries also delivered their best wishes.
VNY 2020 Secretariat Coordinator Suraj Baidya said the tourism year welcomes the tourists from across the globe and is a very good platform to display Nepal’s culture , heritage, costume and lifestyle.
The Army helicopters holding the National flags flew over the stadium adding vibrance to the show.
